New Moon: Intuition, Stillness, and Quiet Power

The winter of the lunar cycle, this is a time to rest, reset and pay attention to your inner thoughts and intuition.

What Is the New Moon Phase?

The New Moon is when the sky is dark - the perfect time to get some much needed sleep.

Energetically, it’s a time to turn inward, rest, and reflect. Yes you can ignore the moon and still attack things with full power, but it will zap your energy so much more than any other phase of the cycle. So plan in recovery time if you cannot rest (because 21st century life expects us to bring the same energy day in day out).

Why is the New Moon phase important?

Have you ever heard the phrase "nothing in nature blooms all year long"? This is our sign to rest, to take a pause, we can rush around for the rest of the month but for a few days either side of the new moon let us slow down, be intentional with our actions and tune in to what we really need.

The new moon can provide something called a "fertile void" - when we rest, quieten down all the external stimuli that fills our daily lives, we allow our brains to be inspired, to come up with ideas, without them being forced. This stillness is to be cherished.

Real Talk From Me:

I used to ignore this part of the cycle — pushing through exhaustion. Now, it’s where I find my biggest breakthroughs. I absolutely love the ideas I get when I allow myself to rest and as a result I get so much more done in my more productive phases of the month.

How to Start Living in Alignment with the New Moon phase of the Lunar Cycle:

1️⃣ Awareness first — simply start noticing how your energy, mood, and focus change with the new moon. Do you feel better when you add in extra rest time if you cannot change your commitments this week?
2️⃣ Track it — use a lunar calendar with all the essential dates so you can plan in advance around the lunar cycle (included in my Cyclical Wisdom Vault to make it super easy).
3️⃣ Make small adjustments — start planning your rest, work, and social life around your natural energy. Each week I post a reel on my Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and LinkedIn accounts to provide advice on how to maximise the current lunar energy so head on over to get the latest tips.

It is the time to do quiet activities with the children, maybe a movie night with popcorn or a visit to a nature reserve. You may find the noise of soft play a bit too much this week. Social activities with friends, this is the time for that cinema date, a leisurely stroll round an art gallery, there is time for adrenaline filled activities later in the month, for now lets rest and reset.
